プリメインアンプとしての基本形としてRCAライン入力4系統のセレクタ切り替えSWとボリュームを装備。オプションとして、1：XLRバランス入力ｘ1+ RCAx3力, 2:フォノ入力（MM) + RCAx3、3：パワーアンプとしてのRCA/XLR入力ｘ1、の3種を用意しています。 それぞれに合わせてパネルの交換がございますので事前にお選びください。また後での変更も可能となっています。各種オプションの入力回路は半導体式となっております。

回路

入力段に12AX7をパラレルで使用、真空管の内部インピーダンスを下げ、ローノイズ化を図り次段へのドライブ力を高めています。位相反転段は12AU7を使ったムラード型を採用し安定した最終段への信号受け渡しを実現。終段のEL34はルンダール社製の出力トランスとウルトラリニア接続とし艇歪率ハイパワーを実現しています。EL34は自己バイアス動作ですので他のブランドのEL34とそのまま無調整で差し替えできます。長期間の使用によるEL34の動作状態をチェックできるようにバイアス電圧チェックポイントをソケットのわきに設けてあります。　オーソドックスな回路と定番の真空管を採用することにより長年に渡って安定した動作やメンテナンスができるように配慮しました。

抵抗はVishey社、米国PRP社、国産TAKUMANを採用、フィルムコンデンサは独WIMA、電解コンデンサは独TDK-EPCOSを採用。これらの選択には品質と信頼性にこだわっています。電源トランス、チョークトランスは国産のオーロラサウンドカスタム、整流ダイオードは現代の最も低ノイズ高耐圧のローム社製シリコンカーバイドを採用、各種端子類も厚い金メッキの高品質なものを厳選しています。

The heavyweight transformer and sensitive vacuum tube parts are supported by this body to reproduce the substantial mid-low frequencies and delicate high frequencies.　This is designed and manufactured carefully hand crafted so that it can not only meet the needs of the modern digital high-resolution era, but also has sufficient functions and performance for analog playback. Various input options

As a basic pre-main amplifier, it is equipped with four RCA line inputs, selector SW and volume. There are three options: 1: XLR balanced input x1 + RCAx3 line, 2: phono input (MM) + RCAx3 line, and 3: RCA/XLR input x1 as a power amplifier. There is a back panel replacement for each one, so please choose in advance.  The phono and XLR input options are semiconductor circuit.

Circuit

The  ECC83(12AX7) is used in parallel for the input stage to reduce the internal impedance of the vacuum tube, reduce noise, and increase the drive power to the next stage. The phase inverter stage adopts a Mullard type using ECC82(12AU7) to achieve stable signal delivery to the final stage. The EL34(6CA7) at the power stage is connected to the output transformer made by Lundal and ultra-linear. The EL34 is self-biasing, so it can be replaced with other brands of EL34 without adjustment. Specifal Parts

Vishay, PRP, and Japanese TAKUMAN are for resistors, WIMA for film capacitors, and TDK-EPCOS is for electrolytic capacitors. We are committed to quality and reliability in these selections. The power transformer and choke transformer are customized by Japanese manufacture, and the rectifier diode is made of ROHM silicon carbide, which is the lowest noise and high voltage resistance of modern times. Speakers and RCA terminals are also carefully selected with thick gold plating.

　78回転SPから33⅓回転モノラルLPまでのすべてのアナログレコードのカッティング特性に対応した可変型マルチカーブフォノイコライザアンプです。低域補正のターンオーバーと高域補正のロールオフのイコライザ補正値はパネルの表示どおりれぞれ10種類が完全独立で調整でき、お互いの干渉がありませんので100種類の組み合わせが可能です。

　代表的なカッティング特性として、78回転SPでは米国、ヨーロッパの各々1945年を境に戦前と戦後の4種類（EU78 ～1945, AM78 ～1945, EU78 1945～, AM78 1945～ )、 LPではRIAAをはじめとして、AES, DECCA, Columbia, NABにプリセットしやすいようになっています。 特にDECCA、Columbia、RIAAでは低域の上昇限度を抑え正しく再生できるように個別にBass Limit特性を備えています。
　

　SPの専門家からモノラルLPマニア、これからステレオ以前の音盤を聴いてみたいという方までのアナログレコード愛好家に満足できる使いやすいものとして開発いたしました。

特徴

　それぞれの可変値はコンピュータを用いた回路シミュレータで各フィルター回路を緻密に計算し、Audio Precision社の測定器で実際の回路を確認し、ロータリースイッチでコンデンサと抵抗を切り替える方式としました。各スイッチはレコードを聴きながら操作できるように切り替え時のノイズがほとんど目立たないように配慮されています。

　従来の可変型イコライザではボリュームを使って各種カーブを変化させるものが多くありましたが、ボリューム式では回転摺動子の接点品質や回転位置と抵抗値の誤差などの問題でアバウトなパネル表示とならざるを得ません。EQ-100ではこれらの懸念をすべてなくしました。
　また、ビンテージ機器と調和するような外装のデザインと木製の枠を備え、また前面パネルが見やすく操作しやすいように折り畳み式のチルトスタンドを装備しています。

　今まで埋もれたり隠れていたりした音楽表現や演奏者の意図など、本機により新たな発見があることでしょう。

フロントパネル

入出力

 　本機はモノラル構成ですがステレオシステムの機器と接続しやすいように入力と出力はそれぞれ2つ備わっており、各々L/Rに接続できます。もちろんスピーカ1本の完全モノラルシステムでも問題ありません。入力はMCとMMのカートリッジに対応しており、MCでは現代のモノラルMC型に最適なゲインと負荷になっています。MM入力では通常の47kΩ負荷のMM カートリッジだけでなくバリアブルリラクタンス型（通称バリレラ）に最適な負荷もあり（VR-1）、またその放送局型や初期のバックマンタイプにも対応しています。（VR-2）　

　ステレオカートリッジを接続した場合は本機の内部で縦方向の振動をキャンセルし横方向のR+Lの信号だけを取り出し、ノイズの少ない定位の定まったモノラル信号を出力します。
出力は定格2Vrmsで準的な信号レベルとなっており、現代のシステムとレベルの差がありません。本機が2台あればL/R独立したステレオフォノイコライザとしてお使いいただくことも可能です。

各種機能

 　弊社フォノイコライザシリーズで定評ある大型のMUTEボタンを備えており、カートリッジ上げ下げのノイズを消すことができレコードかけ替えが快適です。特にSP盤では機械式蓄音機のオートストップ機構を働かせるため曲の終わりにアームを左右に大きく振らせるように溝を切ったものがありますが、電機再生ではそれが過大なノイズとなります。その場合このMUTEボタンがありますと即座にノイズを消すことができ便利です。またRIAAとの比較が簡単にできるようにVariable/RIAAの瞬時の切り換えも可能としました。

増幅アンプ回路、部品

 　1980年代のアナログ回路最盛期のNECと東芝製の2SCxxx, 2SAxxx, 2SKxxxといったシリコントランジスタとＦＥＴを多用したVIDA-MkⅡと同じアンプモジュールを使い、また最高級オペアンプであるバーブラウンOPA627、リニアテクノロジLT1028を適材適所に採用し、音質と電気的特性の両方兼ね備えるべく設計いたしました。コンデンサはドイツのWIMAや国産のポリプロプレン型、抵抗はTAKMAN、電源部はトロイダルトランス、整流はノイズが極小なショットキバリアダイオードなど吟味された部品を惜しみなく採用しております。回路は各ブロック内で部品が最短で配線されるよう配置し、またグランドパターンの入力、出力、電源部の分離などの配慮がされております。ロータリースイッチやMUTE スイッチ類はすべてALPS、OMRON、NKK といった信頼のおける国産品です。

本機の使いかた

PRODUCT OUTLINE

  EQ-100, an Adaptive Multi-curve Phono Equalizer Amplifier, is compatible with any analog records capable of accommodating any record-cutting characteristics from SP (78rpm) to monaural LP (33 1/3rpm). The equalization value of Turnover in the low frequency range and Roll-off in the high frequency range are shown on the front panel, each having 10 selection. Accordingly, a total of 100 combinations are feasible independently without any mutual interferences. An easier setting is provided for a typical cutting characteristic such as 78rpm SP in US, in Europe 4 kinds (EU78 ~945, AM78 ~1945, EU78 1945~, AM78 1945~ ), for LP, RIAA , AES, DECCA, Columbia, NAB. Especially for DECCA, Columbia, and RIAA, a specifically designed Bass Limiter is provided for each record label to attenuate low frequencies for accurate playback.

　This model was designed and developed with a concept of completely satisfying those enthusiasts from the SP experts to monaural mania to anyone interested in the pre-stereo records with user friendliness in mind.

FEATURE

  Each adaptive value was determined with use of a circuit simulator and a computer in order to calculate the precise filter circuit. Actual circuit was meticulously tested and confirmed with Audio Precision’s measuring instrument. As a result, the best system was derived, i.e., to switch the values of resisters and capacitors with rotary switches. While playing a record, selection of EQ setting can be done with minimum noise. Some variable equalizer amplifiers use potentiometers to attain desired curves. However, precise setting with a potentiometer is not easy as it has large error tolerance. In addition, brush contacts sometimes deteriorate its reliability. This can be another factor causing difficulties for precision setting. EQ-100 completely resolved these problems. This model is designed to offer great enjoyment and value as it will excavate hidden sound, musical representation, and musicians’ original intent.

INPUT/OUTPUT

 EQ-100 is designed with a monaural configuration; however, it has 2 inputs and 2 outputs for easier connection with a stereo system. Surely, it accepts a complete monaural system having a single speaker without any issues. The input is compatible with MC and MM type cartridges. What is more, the optimum load impedance and gain are configured for a modern MC type to achieve the best performance. For the MM input, in addition to a standard 47kΩ load impedance, an optimum load is featured for a Variable-Reluctance type. (VR-1) It is also compatible with the broadcasting type and initial Bachman type. (VR-2)
　When a stereo cartridge is used, any vertical signal on a record is cancelled by an internal circuit of EQ-100. Only the R+L horizontal signal are detected to assure a superior sound stage with less noise.
The output is of a standard 2Vrms, hence there is no level difference between the modern system. If two units are used, it is possible to use them as a stereo phono equalizer with L/R independently.

VARIOUS FUNCTIONS

 A large-size MUTE Button, which is a well-established Aurorasound’s unique feature, provides a more comfort when changing records and placing stylus on a record to start playing without fear of generating noise. Especially, some SP records have grooves widely swaying horizontally at the end of music to activate the mechanical “STOP” lever. This can cause annoying noise with today’s electric type playback system. With this MUTE button, this noise can be quickly muted.
　It is also possible to compare between Variable/RIAA instantly with a switch on the front panel.
The exterior package of EQ-100 is designed with a wooden case so that it blends in harmoniously with any vintage equipment. For easier viewing and operation, built-in fold-away type tilting stands are equipped.

AMPLIFIER CIRCUIT AND COMPONENTS

 In the 1980s, when analog was at its peak years, very popular series transistors and FETs from NEC and Toshiba such as 2SCxxx, 2SAxxx, 2SKxxx were abundantly used with VIDA-MkII. EQ-100 is designed with adopting the same amp modules and the fist-class Op-amp known as Burr Brown OPA627, and Linear Technology LT1028.

　These components are well-placed to accomplish both the best sound quality and electric characteristics. Capacitors are of German WIMA and Japanese polypropylene type, resistors are of TAKMAN, a toroidal transformer for the power supply, Schottky diodes known for its super low noise for the rectifier. These components are critically examined and generously employed. The shortest wiring distances are calculated amongst each module. In addition, grounding patterns of circuit board for the input/output, and separation of the power supply are designed in a prudent manner. The rotary switches, MUTE switch is of the most reliable Japanese manufacturers’ such as ALPS, OMRON, and NKK.

AFE-11 English

This RIAA Converter (AFE-11) converts an output signal of CD player or DA converter to RIAA recording curve of vinyl disks. AFE-11 output signal is equal to MM cartridge signal, so external phono stage amplifier will reproduces it to original flat signal. AFE-11 deletes digital noise and unnecessary high frequency noise of CD or DA converter signal. And external phono stage amplifier will make sound characters, then digital audio sound will changed to analog taste sound. AFE-11 has very low noise and super low distortion design, so no sound degradation. Why this kind of useless and meaningless process is needed ? Additional process must make sound worse, doesn’t it ? Yes, it is not wrong. But we are listening MUSIC by audio system. AFE-11 never make music worse. AFE-11 draws a core of music and reveals an essence of recoding materials. I recommend AFE-11 for those people who love analog disk and quit to listen digital audio source. You would enjoy your CD library by your phono stage amplifier with AFE-11 again. People who are tired of improvement only trend, I recommend to try AFE-11 and discover another joy of audio. To compare direct CD sound and AFE-11 sound, AFE-11 equips parallel output terminals. Please use high quality phono stage amplifier. AFE-11 is also useful to evaluate DIY phono amp and check RIAA equalizing performance without special measurement tools.

AFE-10 English

There are many variation of MM cartridges, but MM input of phono stage amplifiers are fixed 47kohm load impedance, and also load capacitance is fixed. These cases, vintage MM cartridge, monaural MM cartridge and high output level MC cartridge are not good fit to it, sometimes peaky high and rough sound. This MM Expander AFE-10 can adjust appropriate load impedance of resistance and capacitance in order to bring out potential performance of those cartridges.　At 47kΩ, 0pF position, signal is by passed. AFE-10 does not need power supply.

Features, How to use

1. Select appropriate load impedance of resistance and capacitance for MM cartridge in order to bring out its potential performance.

2. This load impedance select is effective for not only MM, VM, MI and IM type cartridges, but also high output level MC cartridges that is connected to MM input.

3. When listen a monaural LP disk by stereo cartridge, Mono. position SW can cancel the vertical vibration and pick up the lateral only. This reduces unnecessary vertical noise signal, then makes strong and very low noise mono sound.

4. In the case of some monaural cartridge, head shell and cable wiring may invite hum noise due to ground loop. GND lift switch will cut the ground loop and reduce the hum noise.  Normal case, do no tuse this function.

5. Load impedance adjust is effective for Step up Transformer of MC cartridge, too.

6. Large size MUTE button is convenient when cartridge down/up to play and change disks.

7. MUTE button is effective to degauss both of Step Up transformer of MC cartridge and MC cartridge same time.　This is passive type degauss, so no damage to cartridge and trans even to use too much time.

8. AFE-10 employs precision and high reliability rotary switch of measurement equipment Use 1% grade TAKMAN metal foil resistors and WIMA film capacitors parts.

9. Those switch contact point and R C parts are inserted between in signal line and ground, not inserted in signal line, so no sound degradation.

10. At 47kΩ, +0pF position, input signal is by passed to go output.

Note :
1. To obtain correct number of resistance, please connect to MM input of phono stage amplifier that load impedance is 47kohm.

2. Do not care about capacitance number of phono stage amplifier.
This MM Expander just adds capacitance value of indicated.

3. Resistance and capacitance value will be affected by residential RC value of connection cable. Recommend to use low capacitance cable., and just select your favorite sound by your listening perception.

AFE-10

世の中に多くの種類があるMMカートリッジ、しかし一般的なフォノアンプのMM入力の負荷抵抗値はほとんどが47kΩに固定されており、また負荷容量値も固定されています。こういったアンプにビンテージのMMカートリッジやモノラルMMカートリッジ、高出力型MCカートリッジを接続しますと高域が強調されすぎたり、音が暴れたりすることがあります。　本機はカートリッジとフォノアンプのMM入力の間に挿入し、負荷抵抗や負荷容量を変化させてカートリッジの持つ本来の特徴を活かすものです。47kΩ, +0pfで信号はスルーになります。本機は電源は不要です。　　定価46,860円　消費税含む   シリアル番号12J21099, 2021年7月出荷よりパネルの印刷を若干変更しました。　47kΩと+0pFに (pass)　を追加。　Normalを追加し線を廃止。 　電気的仕様、機能や回路の変更はありません。

特徴、使いかた

1. MMカートリッジの負荷抵抗と負荷容量を変化させてカートリッジの持つ本来の特徴を引き出します。

2. MM入力を使う高出力MCカートリッジにも有効にはたらきます。　VM型、MI型、IM 型にも有効です。

3. ステレオカートリッジでモノラルLPを聴くとき、Monoポジションにしますと縦方向の振動をキャンセルし横方 向の音楽信号だけを取り出します。　音がモノラルでもノイズだけがステレオになるのを防止し、ノイズの少ない前面に出る力強い音を再生します。

4. モノラルカートリッジの場合、ヘッドシェルやケーブルの配線でグランドループができてハムノイズを誘導する場合があり、GND-Lift機能が有効です。 　ノイズのない場合は通常の場合ははGND Liftは使わないでください、片CHからしか音が出ません。

5. MUTE機能は針の上げ下げ時にボリュームの調整をすることなく快適なレコード再生を体験できます。

6. MCカートリッジとステップアップトランスにも負荷の変化が有効となり、好みの音を探すことが可能です。

7. Degauss機能でMC トランスとMCカートリッジの両方を消磁させることが可能です。MUTEボタンを押してレコードを約1分再生してください。カートリッジが発生する電力で自身を消磁します。数か月に1回行うと効果的です。パッシブ型ですのでやりすぎてもカートリッジを痛めることはありません。　MM カートリッジには効きません。

8.精密測定機用高信頼性ロータリースイッチ採用、TAKMAN1%級REY抵抗、 WIMAフィルムコンデンサ使用

9.それらの 各スイッチやRC類は信号とグランドの間に並列に入り、信号経路には入りませんので接点等による音質の劣化はありません。

10.　47kΩ、+0pF　のポジションで信号はスルーバイパスとなります。

注意 :
1. パネル上の負荷抵抗値を得るにはフォノイコライザアンプのMM 入力インピダンスが47kΩであることが必要です。

2. 負荷容量値はプラスの表示になっています。これはご使用のケーブル容量値にこの表示の容量値を加算いたします。　できるだけ低容量値のケーブルをお勧めいたします。

3. 抵抗値、容量値とも各カートリッジに適正な値がありますがご使用のフォノイコライザやケーブルの影響もありますので特にこの値でなければならないというものではありません。耳で聞いて好ましいと思うポジションでお使いいただいて構いません。

本アダプターの定格出力電圧はDC12Vですがアンレギュレイテッド（未安定化）のため無負荷で18V出ます。AFE-11の内部の安定化電源回路で12V

のクリーンな電圧に変換いたします。　AFE-11には変更はございません。

PREDA

 PREDA is a solid state preamplifier with analog IN/OUT employing state-of-the-art transformer-type volume control system. The transformer uses super-reliable lead relays with 54-step, permitting precise setting with perfect Infrared remote control. Unlike conventional resister-type attenuator, the transformer system has no loss of signals, as heat, enabling precision volume control settings. Aurorasound’s newly developed discrete amp-module, having achieved ultra wideband and low distortion, balances input signal sources and adopt any type of output power amplifiers with excellent signal control.

 PREDA is developed with a completely new concept by adopting independent block for power supply, amplifiers, input and output modules for each L/R channels. A heavy duty solid aluminum chassis, extruded knobs, anti-vibration foot insulators are employed to achieve the highest-level musical performance, operation and aesthetics.   It is an ideal preamplifier as the center core of your audio system.

Apr.2014, Gain select switch is added on the bottom of chassis. This function is more minus 16 step down foe mid-night listening.

Block Diagram

1.Transformer-type Attenuator is an Energy Transfer Device

 A conventional resistor-type attenuator waste energy of reduced signal as heat. Since the current in a preamplifier is small, it does not give off high heat, however, attenuated signal is discharged in the air as heat. A transformer-type attenuator is an electric energy convertor without energy loss, therefore, it allows lossless signal level control. A typical transformer-type attenuator has only around 32 steps, but Aurorasound adopted 54 steps, which allows precise setting of volume level.

 Transformer-type attenuator is available as a module. There is an issue associated with transformer-type attenuator. When CD Player and/or Power Amplifier having capacitors, which cut DC, are combined with the transformer-type attenuator, it generates a LC resonator causing undesirable impact on frequency response and phase alignment. PREDA eliminated such problems by adopting DC amplifiers before and after the transformer. As a result, it completely eliminates the influence of the capacitors.

2.Highly-reliable Lead Relay is used for tap selection

Highly-reliable lead relay encapsulated in small glass tubes are of UK-based Pickering Manufacture. ON/OFF switching is
accomplished by an external magnetic field generated by current in the coil. Multiple lead relays are completely shielded by mu-metal to avoid mutual interferences.

3.Newly Developed Aurora-AMP Module

 Aurora-AMP Module is a discrete amplifier, capable of handling heavy load for high driving, up to 110dB open-loop gain. It has 12MHz gain-band width, THD+N of 0.0003%, through-rate of 28V/ usec, offering extremely high performance. The PCB is gold plated, without use of resist proces,s to avoid any coloration on sound. PREDA uses 6 units of this AMP module. This unit has become the core amplifier module of Aurorasound representing our company’s sound philosophy

4.Well-recognized power supply in VIDA is also used in PREDA, as well.

 This power supply is highly reputable for its super-low noise and high speed. PREDA is equipped with 2 independent power supply units for L/R channels. These power supplies are packaged in series to cancel unnecessary leakage flux from the transformers as shown in the picture below.

5.Balanced Input has Instrumentation Amp Structure

 An Instrumentation AMP is used for the input of XLR balance signal. Output goes through Aurora-AMP module,which has high precision with balanced transfer circuit, allowing well balanced transmission of the signals. It requires a total of 4 modules in order to accomplish a completely balanced architecture including AMP and volume control for L/R channels. In addition, attenuation level in the HOT and COLD circuits, frequency responses, distortion must be identical in each channel. Otherwise, the differences will surface in the output stage. On the other hand,there are substantial merits such as immune to external noises and cable length. For these reasons, PREDA adopted balanced structure.

5.Balanced Input has Instrumentation Amp Structure

-TBSP

True Balanced Signal Path

  PREDA-TBSP is high grade version of PREDA, this is true balanced signal path. From input, amplification, autoformer attenuator, output buffer to output, all of signal path are true balanced configurations. This is almost double complexity of total circuitry compared to standard PREDA.  This TBSP system can eliminate common mode noise and get rid of ground noise influence, then make pure music signal and information transportation from source to power amplifier. Power supply unit is separate chassis. Four units of power transformer and regulators are completely independent for left/right channel and analog/digital control section. PREDA-TBSP is non compromise control center for real balanced signal path audio system. All functions are remote controlled by hand set.
